Little Bretzels trip to Lithuania

Fifth stop: Brištonas

So far traveled: 1700 KM

Yesterday we mate a day-trip to Brištonas which is approximately 90 km’s in the south of Kaunas. We started our trip from Kaunas around lunch time with one of the mini buses which start at the central bus stop next to the large shopping center in the city of Kaunas. The ride was around 50 minutes and 45 km’s far.

Brištonas it-self is a health resort with mineral springs and several sanitariums. We got first a bit lost since the town map next to the bus stop was wrongly located and the you are here location was at the wrong spot. Nevertheless, we walked through a very nice park with several sculptures and some playgrounds for children. We eventually came out at the river bank of the river Memel which flows next to Brištonas. We spent some time lying in the grass and searching for clouds which look like animals and had a small nap in the warm sun. As it got a bit colder, we continued along the river bank and found a bar (including two beers for us), several sanitariums and a small barefoot track next to a mineral water source. We went over the track and discovered the different feelings in our feet.

The final point of our small excursion was a small hill in the south of the city where you have a beautiful overview over the river Memel.

Afterwards, we went back to the bus stop and took the next bus back to Kaunas, since it was already around 7pm.

We arrived at the place where we are staying at the moment around 9 pm. Like yesterday, we went up to the roof top of the house to watch the sunset over Kaunas and enjoy the impressive view.
